Manchester United faced a 3-2 defeat against Nottingham Forest, marking Ruben Amorim’s first loss at Old Trafford.

Before the start of the game, Manchester United honored their beloved late receptionist, Kath Phipps, with a heartfelt tribute. This occurred before their Premier League match against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday. Wreaths were carried onto the pitch by United captain Bruno Fernandes and Forest player Anthony Elanga, who had spent seven years at United before moving to Forest last year.

Typically, the team captain takes on this ceremonial role. However, Forest made a meaningful and fitting gesture by entrusting the responsibility to Elanga. This recognized his connection to the club.

Forest took an early lead within two minutes through Nikola Milenkovic’s header. United responded with a goal from Rasmus Hojlund. However, goalkeeper Andre Onana made a costly mistake. This mistake handed the advantage back to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side early in the second half.

Morgan Gibbs-White struck a curling effort that completely deceived Onana and found the back of the net. Moments later, Chris Wood extended Forest’s lead, leaving United with a steep uphill battle.

Although Bruno Fernandes narrowed the deficit with a composed finish, his substitution shortly after left United lacking the creativity required to push for an equalizer. Forest defended resolutely to secure their first win at Old Trafford in three decades.

This victory sees Forest climb to fifth in the Premier League standings, while United now sit in 13th. For Amorim, this marks only the second instance in his career where he has endured back-to-back league defeats, an unwelcome milestone in his tenure with the club.

A victory would have lifted Manchester United above Nottingham Forest in the standings, but instead, Forest now sit six points clear, leaving United stuck in 13th place. The match concluded with a frustrating free kick needlessly conceded by Diogo Dalot deep in United’s own half, marking a painful end to their evening.

This triumph was Forest’s first at Old Trafford since December 1994, when Stan Collymore dazzled the crowd at the Scoreboard End. Last season, Forest came close to breaking that streak, scoring twice in the opening three minutes, though United managed to recover on that occasion. This time, however, there was no such comeback.
